SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES



Rev. Kye Young Kim

REV. KYE YONG KIM MEMORIAL

Purpose

 In memory of late Rev. Kye Yong Kim and in implementation of his vision to foster future leaders of Korean American Christian community.

Qualification:

  1. Must attend colleges and universities in the United States.
  2. Must be a Korean descendant or registered members of Youngnak Church.
  3. Baptized member of a church considered to believe in the doctrines similar to those of Youngnak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles.
  4. Master’s degree required. Full-time student at a fully accredited theological seminary (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year), which is approved by the Youngnak Session.
  5. Must be less than 35 years of age by the application deadline.
  6. Minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0.
  7. Must have served as part-time or full-time pastor a minimum of two years.
  8. Two letters of recommendations. One recommendation must be from a pastor.



Anna Mission Group in Princeton University (1987)

ANNA MISSION GROUP SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose

To provide financial support, promote and encourage pursuit of a Christian education or theological training by Korean American women.

Qualification:

  1. Must attend colleges and universities in the United States.
  2. Must be a Korean descendant or registered member of Youngnak Church.
  3. Baptized female member of a church considered to believe in the doctrines similar to those of Youngnak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles.
  4. Undergraduate degree required. Full-time student at a fully accredited theological seminary or an equivalent graduate school program, (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year), which is approved by the Youngnak Session.
  5. Must be less than 40 years of age by the application deadline.
  6. Minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0.
  7. Two letters of recommendations from individuals in a leadership/mentor role. One recommendation must be from a pastor.



Rev. Park in Fuller Seminary (1998)

SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose

To provide financial support, promote and encourage pursuit of a theological education among Korean Americans by recognizing those students who exemplify the servitude-leadership qualities of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Qualification:

  1. Must attend colleges and universities in the United States.
  2. Must be a Korean descendant or registered member of Youngnak Church.
  3. Baptized member of a church considered to believe in the doctrines similar to those of Youngnak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles.
  4. Undergraduate degree required. Full-time student at a fully accredited theological seminary (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year), which is approved by the Youngnak Session.
  5. Must be less than 40 years of age by the application deadline.
  6. Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
  7. Must demonstrate financial need.
  8. One letter of recommendation from an individual in a leadership/mentor role. (i.e., pastor, professor, etc.)

GENERAL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose

To provide financial support, promote and recognize academic and leadership achievements by Korean American undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualification:

  1. Must attend colleges and universities in the United States.
  2. Must be a Korean descendant or registered member of Youngnak Church.
  3. Baptized member of a church considered to believe in the doctrines similar to those of Youngnak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles.
  4. Full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a fully accredited 2-year junior college, 4-year college or university (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year), which is approved by the Youngnak Session.
  5. Must be less than 35 years of age by the application deadline.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need if applying need-based.
  7. One letter of recommendation from an individual in a leadership/mentor role. (i.e., pastor, professor, etc.)
